Instructions for Authors
Entropy (ISSN 1099-4300) is a scientific journal dedicated to
the empirical and theoretical study of entropy from a variety of
perspectives: physics, mathematics, biology, economy, etc.
Interdisciplinary works are also welcome. All submitted manuscripts
should contain original research not previously published and not under
consideration for publication elsewhere. Entropy is aimed to maintain
an efficient editorial procedure as well as a rigorous peer-review
system. This open access journal is funded by publication charges paid by authors or their institutions. The article processing and publication charges for this journal are currently of CHF 800 for papers accepted for publication in Entropy. Authors are allowed to distribute e-reprints via e-mail, or web
server, free of charge, under the condition that the original place
of publication (http://www.mdpi.org/entropy/)
is mentioned. Accepted papers are published immediately online. Authors are
required to prepare and submit manuscripts according the following
instructions.
Technical Requirement
- Please formulate your arguments in clear language and standard
mathematics. Review published articles as examples.
Submission of Manuscripts
- Manuscripts should be classified according one of the following
categories: Editorial, Short Note, Full Research Paper, Review, Letter to the Editor, Comment. The default is Full Research Paper.
- Manuscripts should be written in English, and submitted by e-mail to [email protected] or online via
http://submit.mdpi.org/.
- Acceptable file formats: MS Word (.doc) and LaTeX.
- MS Word: Manuscript prepared in MS Word must be converted into a single file before submission. When preparing manuscripts in MS Word, the Entropy MS Word template file must be used. Please do not insert any graphics
(schemes, figures, etc.) into a movable frame which can superimpose the
text and make the layout very difficult.
- LaTeX: Manuscripts prepared in LaTeX will also be accepted. However, be sure to send a copy of your manuscript as a DVI or PDF version, if you decided to use LaTeX. When preparing manuscripts in LaTeX, the Entropy LaTeX template file must be used.

top, 3.5cm at the bottom and 1.75 cm on both left and right sides of
the paper.
- The paper style of Entropy should be followed.
- The category (Editorial, Short Note, Full Research Paper, Review, Letter to the Editor, Comment) should be given on the line above
the title. The default is Full Research Paper.
- Authors' full address, homepage address, phone, fax numbers
and institutional e-mail address can be included in the title page and these will be
published.
- The Abstract should be clear and detailed.
- A list of three to six keywords must be given, and placed
after the Abstract.
- Authors are encouraged to provide primary and secondary MSC 2000
codes from the AMS Mathematics
Subject Classification and/or primary and secondary PACS codes from
the AIP Physics and Astronomy
Classification Scheme
- Authors are encouraged to prepare figures and schemes in color.
Full color graphics will be published free of charge. Conference
slides, video sequences, software, etc., can be included and published
as supplementary material.
- Tables should be inserted into the main text, and numbers
and titles for all tables supplied. All table columns should have an

- Please supply legends for all figures, schemes and
tables. The legends should be prepared as a separate paragraph of the
main text and placed in the main text before a table and after a figure
or a scheme.
- Reference numbers should be placed in square brackets [ ],
and placed before the punctuation; for example [4] or [1-3], and all

Landee, F. A.; Reslock, M. A. Chemically Oriented Storage and Retrieval
System. 1. Storage and Verification of Structural Information. J. Chem.
Doc. 1967, 7, 43-47.
- References to books should cite the author(s), title,
publisher, publication date, and page.
9. Smith, A. B. Textbook of Organic
Chemistry; D. C. Jones: New York, 1961; pp 123-126.

Vol. 1, Chapter 1, p 60.
Referees
- The submitted manuscript is sent to at least two referees,
even when it is a letter to the Editor. Anonymity of reviewers is
retained.
Authors must suggest three names of referees with the
appropriate scientific expertise, although the Editor will not
necessarily approach them. The referees professional addresses, e-mail
addresses, phone and fax numbers have to be be provided.

so it is
essential that for proper refereeing

revised by an English speaking colleague before submission. Additional
