Nutraceuticals and Chemopreventives
a section
of IJMS
Editor of the section Nutraceuticals and Chemopreventives
Aims and Scope
This IJMS section is about molecular
sciences of foods and drinks having a medicinal effect on
human health. Molecular pharmacology of isolated natural products and
synthetic organic compounds is also considered. Certain small amounts
of natural products in food,
mainly in phytonutrients, and beverage, etc.,
such as phenolics, carotenoids, vitamins, sterols, may have biological
properties/bioactivities (antioxidant, antimicrobial, anticancer
effects). All papers will be peer reviewed as other papers of IJMS. We
publish only scientific
studies including well controlled in vitro studies, animal
models, epidemiological studies
and/or clinical studies, and correlation of chemical composition and
bioactivity.
Keywords
Function as Antioxidant or Radical
scavenger, Antimicrobial effect, Functional foods, phytonutrients,
anticarcinogens.
Chemopreventives: Carveol (a natural terpenoid alcohol, a potential
antiangiogen), S-Allyl cysteine (a potentional cholesterol lowering
agent); pharmacology studies.
Special issues:
Special Issue on Phenolics (flavonoids
and the non-flavonoids): Pure synthesis and isolation and analysis of
the natural products should be published in
Molecules:
